Aneliz's Story

Five months into my pregnancy, my son's father left home. I was devastated, and so many questions swirled endlessly in my mind: How would I prepare for my baby's arrival? How would I take care of him, alone and without income?

At night, unable to sleep, I would caress my belly and talk to my son. I made him a promise: I would give him a better life, a good education, and I would always be there for him.

Grandma Aneliz

My grandmother, Grandma Aneliz, was my rock during this period. A former businesswoman who had raised her six children alone after my grandfather’s death, she inspired me with her strength and wisdom. She advised me to invest the 25,000 gourdes I had saved to start a business. She told me how she had overcome challenges by creating her own company, and her words rekindled my faith in the future.

I followed her advice. I thought long and hard about a project I would be passionate about and that could thrive. Then, one day, the idea struck me: to sell coffee and tea. Thanks to an agronomist friend, I was able to connect with local coffee and cocoa producers in Haiti. This was the beginning of my entrepreneurial adventure.

Our first steps internationally were significant: we were the first to supply coffee and chocolate to a Haitian restaurant in France. During tastings, many people praised the quality and aroma of our coffee; some even contacted me directly to buy, convinced by its bold and warm taste. These feedbacks strengthened my determination.

These successes resonate with my childhood memories in Haiti. In the mornings, at our house, grandma would prepare coffee; we would share it as a family with bread, sometimes with milk — simple and happy moments. And when we didn’t make it at home, there was always the neighbor who sold hot coffee and chocolate in the neighborhood: we would buy some from her and, mischievously, ask for “a little extra scoop.” These images, these scents, this generosity shaped my vision: coffee and drinks that bring people together.

Even after leaving Haiti to settle in the Dominican Republic, I didn’t abandon my dream. I created Debo Empresa, a small wholesale coffee and cocoa business. With the help of my younger sister, I began exporting my products, particularly to France.

In May 2023, I arrived in the United States, determined to continue this story. I decided to rename my company Aneliz, in homage to my grandmother who taught me never to give up.

Today, while honoring our Haitian origins, I am also developing a range of artisan teas in Pennsylvania: I source organic ingredients online from American farmers and prepare the blends locally — with the intention of meeting these producers in person to build lasting partnerships.

Aneliz is more than a brand: it is a living memory — the warmth of a kitchen in Haiti, the pride of our producers, the momentum of a dream that travels. Each cup tells a story of resilience, heritage, and connection between cultures.

Mission Statement

At ANELIZ, our mission is to build bridges between cultures and connect communities by sharing the rich, authentic flavors of Haiti and our local U.S. terroir.

We showcase Haiti’s unique heritage through premium coffee and cacao, while developing handcrafted tea line made here in Pennsylvania from certified organic fruits and leaves purchased locally, then dried/dehydrated and blended on site.

Our goal is to celebrate and share a vibrant, sustainable culture—delivering, in every product, an authentic and traceable taste that honors the land, from the mountains of Haiti to Pennsylvania’s organic farms and orchards.

Core Values

1.

Authenticity

We honor the true character of our terroirs: the Haitian heritage in our coffee and cacao, and the freshness of locally sourced, organic ingredients in our tea blends.

2.

Quality

Excellence at every step: rigorous selection of beans, certified-organic fruits and leaves, and precise local drying/dehydration and blending to achieve consistent, high-fidelity flavor profiles.

3.

Sustainability

We protect nature through responsible choices: shorter supply chains where possible, local tea production to reduce transport impact, thoughtful packaging, and support for environmentally respectful farming.

4.

Cultural Connection

We build flavorful bridges between Haiti and the United States, telling—in every cup—a story of roots, craftsmanship, and the meeting of Haitian origins with local ingredients.

5.

Community Support

We uplift the people behind our products: Haitian producers (fair pricing, long-term partnerships) and local Pennsylvania growers/artisans, advancing shared prosperity.
